Thanksgiving is usually the time of year we gather with family and friends. Being thankful should be part of our daily lives. - Stop to observe the richness around you.
- Give thanks for the morning light, life and strength.
- Give thanks for the joy of living.
- Be thankful for work and support worthy causes
- Appreciate everything that comes your way.
The more you are grateful for, the more will be given you. This year, let's strive to have only one obligation for the holidays, to be sincerely thankful. If you are traveling this season, please be careful.
We are going to provide dancing opportunities throughout the holidays. Right after Thanksgiving, come work off that turkey dinner and after Christmas, too. See you on the dance floor! Jean Krupa, Editor

Thanks. | Video Lending Library ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Video Library is a service for Greater Daytona Chapter members; leave a $25. deposit (refundable-personal check okay) and check out a DVD or VHS tape for up to two months. Paul Spano will have the video lending library open for 15 minutes after the 2nd mixer following our announcement break. We have a list of available DVD's and videos for you to review at our dances or visit our website. Video Library | President's Message ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dear Members, We had planned that a charity would run our October 24 dance. However, there was a last minute glitch. Of course, I had not arranged for door volunteers . . .What to do at the last minute? Then, an angel, by the name of Diana Partyka, called me to confirm that she and George were working the door at this dance. Thank you, Diana and George, for anticipating our needs. And thank you also to Henry and Clarence for their last minute assistance. I must be honest. . . I was not particularly in favor of the costume contest at our October 24 dance. However, the quality of the costumes, the number of participants, and the festive atmosphere, certainly changed my mind. First place went to a ghoulish Dracula by the name of Fred Ouellette; second place went to the Tin Man and Dorothy by the names of Paul Spano and Carol Edwards; and third place went to an Indian Chief by the name of John Lynch. I think it is fair to say that a good time was had by all. So. . . who will win the cash prizes next year??? It was brought to my attention by a fellow dancer recently that Fred Astaire Studio closed a few weeks ago. I understand that Erika and Oscar are working out of The Ballroom. I suggest, if you have a certificate to Fred Astaire for free group lessons, that you contact The Ballroom at 386-341-7900. In the future, new memberships will not include Fred Astaire Studio free group lessons. However, Lawrence Dance Studio will continue to offer a month of free group lessons (Mondays or Wednesdays or Thursdays) to new members of our chapter of USA Dance. Thank you, Jerry! I recently forwarded information to you via email regarding a New Year's Day Ball Dance Camp and New Year's Eve Gala in Orlando with special rates for members of USA Dance. Please check http://www.ChampionshipDanceCamps.com/ndb/ for more information.
With the holidays upon us, I sincerely wish for each of you a healthy, happy and dance-filled holiday season. Keep on dancing! Marta | Halloween Costume Ball ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Look Who Got Creative! The winners of the Halloween Costume Ball on October 24 were #1, Fred Ouellette, winning $50. #2, Paul Spano and Carol Edwards, winning $35. and #3 John Lynch, winning $25. for the best costumes.
Congratulations, and thank you to everyone who came in costume.Thank you also to our judges, Ginette, Jason and Marjorie. They had a tough task with so many excellent costumes to judge.

Halloween Dance photos | Ease Foot Pain ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dr. Scholl's found a way to design high-heel insoles so that they shift the weight back on the heels and off the forefoot-the root of foot pain for many high-heel wearers. Clinical studies prove these insoles provide pain relief for osteoarthritis in the back, hips and knees. | USA Dance YouTube Channel ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ USA Dance now has its own You Tube Channel under the name USADANCEINC. Have you had a chance to thank our Officers and Board Members for their efforts to make our chapter activities more enjoyable? Please take a moment and let them know you appreciate what they do, because these are the people who, many times, are the energy behind the scenes. They take care of all the little things that make the dances happen, from getting you the information about dance events, to greeting you at the door, arranging for food, setting up the instructors and at the end of the evening, cleaning up and locking up. They take the time to complete the forms, pay the bills, and see to all the details necessary to keep us all dancing. They set up and perform outreach activities; work on our web site; answer your e-mail letters and telephone calls. And sometimes, they even get to dance a little! If you would like to be a part of our winning team, please contact any of the Officers. Volunteers are always welcome. | Quote of the Day! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If you cannot get rid of the family skeleton, you may as well make it dance. George Bernard Shaw. | Dance Calendar ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ All within an hour's drive; support our sister chapters when you can.

Be sure to welcome our new members! | Dear Etta Kitt ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ How do I handle unwelcome comments made while dancing ?
Etta says - Thank you for your question! It is important to be a gentleman and a lady at all times. Joking and casual flirting is all a part of dance, just be sure that your jokes, flirtations and comments stay casual and tasteful. It's easy to misunderstand what might have been meant as a silly little flirtatious joke. If you know a person will take a joke lightly, then feel free. Otherwise, smiles and politeness are always winners. It would be unfortunate to have people avoid wanting to dance with you because you become overbearing. You may have a flirty nature, but until you get to know the person and he/she gets to know you it is important that you not come on too strong. | New Year's Eve Gala ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ily is offering a special rate for the New Year's Eve Gala, to Central Florida USA Dance members for $120 (vs. $150 regular price). This includes a three course dinner, Professional Show featuring Gherman Mustuc and Iveta Lukosiute, current World Professional 10-Dance and US Show Dance Champions, plenty of dancing, and a champagne toast at midnight. Furthermore, they have a special rate with the hotel of $88 that those coming to the Gala are welcome to take advantage of.
